Previous Name: Aurora (aka Briar Rose)
Myth: Sleeping Beauty
Past Life Information: The only child of King Stefan and Queen Leah, Aurora's birth was a happy occasion. At a ceremony to honour her, Aurora was blessed with beauty and song by fairies Flora and Fauna, but as the fairy Merryweather is about to give her blessing, she is interrupted by evil fairy Maleficent. Because she's evil, she curses Aurora to prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die. Luckily, Merryweather still hada blessing to give: she couldn't undo the spell, but she could change it so that Aurora would fall into a deep sleep instead, one that could be broken by true love's kiss. Aurora's parents were still freaked, understandably, and burned every spinning wheel in the kingdom, but they still worried. So they gave Aurora to Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather. They named her Briar Rose and raised her humbly and lovingly in the forest. They gave up their magic, and Briar Rose didn't know her true origin. Instead, she made friends with forest animals and dreamed of love. When she stumbled across a handsome stranger in the forest, she knew she had found it. But the fairies aren't having it; they tell her Aurora is a princess and betrothed to Prince Philip. She is not having it; she wants the boy from the woods. Unfortunately, the uproar leads Maleficent to Aurora; the curse is fulfilled, she falls into a deep sleep. But eventually the good fairies realized that the stranger Aurora fell for is Prince Philip -- what a lucky coincidence! -- and he journeys to find her, kiss her, and marry her. Aurora finally has her parents and her love: who could ask for more?
Current Name: Therese Adams
Age: 25
Occupation: Baker and cake decorator
Personality: Therese is a sweetheart, but she's stubborn as FUCK. She's independent, strong, and extremely kind. She is the most INFJ that ever INFJed. She's early to everything, she's deeply informed about politics at the grassroots level and all the way up; she's motivated by missions and social causes; she believes that she can make the world better if she tries. She's pretty minimalist and feels weird about indulgences, even though her career is sort of built on indulgences. But that's why it's such a good fit for her: she can take part in other people's quests for beauty, and thus fulfil her own.
Background: Therese grew up in Alapine, an intentional lesbian separatist community in Alabama, part of the network of 'womyn's lands'. (Yes, she's named after the character in The Price of Salt). Therese's moms are awesome, older women, and she was heartbroken when one of her mothers died last year. But they are all her moms, and she knows the community is dying and her leaving it isn't helping, but she wanted to experience the world for a little while. So, off she went to culinary school in Florida, and she rebelled by dating boys, and even got engaged to one even before she admitted to herself that she just wasn't interested in men at all.
She took a job making and decorating cakes in New Orleans because she wanted to work specifically decorating cakes, and she loves her little studio apartment and her little dog and all the queer events she's just started attending, but still kind of hopes she can find the woman of her dreams and go back to the womyn's lands. The tradition is in her blood, and maybe she can still be independent and live amongst community again?
